THE CALL FOR PROPOSALS FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY IS NOW CLOSED.

Purpose

As part of the Vice Provost and Dean of Research, the Office of International Affairs (OIA) facilitates new collaborations with international partners on behalf of Stanford's faculty and students. The purpose of this funding opportunity is to broaden and deepen the scope of international research, improve student mentorship in the field, and to engage in-country alumni.

Award

Stanford faculty may apply for grants for $10,000-$30,000 for expenses for “proof-of-concept” research projects with an international partner. Faculty will have an opportunity to expand their research abroad for up to a quarter.  Special consideration will be given to those proposals that will use the Stanford Center at Peking University (SCPKU), either as a place to convene an activity or in any other creative way, related to the project.

Grant amounts awarded will be determined by the faculty review committee based on proposed budget. Amounts may vary depending on a number of factors including, but not limited to the number of travelers (both from and to Stanford University), scope, facility needs, etc. Funds may not be used for salaries. A sample of some costs, including those associated with SCPKU, and links to references for per diem costs are outlined on the following Sample Costs page.

Grants will expire by the end of summer 2016.

Eligibility

OIA invites proposals from faculty who are members of the Academic Council or faculty from the Medical Center Line to develop “proof-of-concept” research projects with an international partner.

For proposals of comparable merit, priority will be given to those faculty that have updated their Stanford Profile with their international research. Refer to this article about Stanford Profiles for additional information. If you are not sure whether or not you have a Stanford Profile, please email Pauline Larmaraud at plarm@stanford.edu before applying.

Winter 2015 recipients of OIA faculty seed grants to invite collaborators to Stanford are not eligible for this round of funding.
